Donate for displaced people in Como

Many of the displaced people in Como are directly affected by the Swiss border regime and live in the most difficult conditions.

Together with local non-profit organisations, Be A Robin has been supporting refugees in Como since 2016. Be A Robin creates stability in uncertain times by providing donations in kind such as winter clothing, organising group excursions and providing constant financial support.

We maintain close partnerships with local non-profit organisations such as the association ‘Como Accoglie’ and the parish of Don Giusto through regular visits. The organisations have many years of experience working with refugees and have a good local network. They use the donations collected for urgently needed goods in Como. Como Accoglie and Don Giusto not only provide accommodation and food, but also opportunities for further education, legal support and orientation to help them gain a foothold in Como themselves. Our partners keep us informed about the most pressing concerns in Como and what they need.  Be A Robin organises trips and leisure activities with displaced people to give them a break from their difficult current situation and works in the background to secure long-term funding for the projects.
The situation in Como has worsened drastically due to the Covid19 pandemic and its consequences. Around 300 refugees are currently living in Como and are being cared for by our partner organisations (the numbers are constantly changing). More than half of the refugees have no permanent accommodation and either live on the streets or in emergency shelters. The rising costs of food, electricity and other everyday items are putting our local partner organisations under increasing financial pressure.
We urgently need donations so that we can guarantee long-term support for our partners in Como and thus provide refugees with a more stable situation.
